ROCK RIDGE RD FIRE.

On August 25, 2026, at approximately 8:23 p.m., the Chester Fire Department was dispatched to 67 Rock Ridge Road for a reported structure fire. Upon arrival, responding units encountered a well-involved structure fire and immediately began fire suppression operations.

Due to the extent of the fire, along with water supply and access challenges at the scene, the incident was ultimately upgraded to a third alarm, bringing numerous mutual-aid departments and agencies to assist with fire suppression, water supply, manpower, EMS coverage, and other operations.

Mutual-aid assistance was provided by Warwick, Monroe, Goshen, Salisbury Mills, Washingtonville, Florida, Greenwood Lake, Pine Island, South Blooming Grove, Woodbury, Kiryas Joel, New Hampton, and Campbell Hall, along with Orange County Fire Services, Empress EMS, Monroe EMS, Warwick EMS, Orange County EMS Coordinators, Chaveirim of Orange County, and Town of Chester Police.

One civilian was evaluated on scene for smoke inhalation. One firefighter was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries and was later treated and released.

The cause and circumstances surrounding the fire remain under investigation by the Orange County Fire Investigation Unit and the Orange County District Attorney's Office Fire Investigation Unit. No additional information regarding the cause of the fire will be released by the Chester Fire Department while that investigation remains ongoing.

The Chester Fire Department would like to thank all the mutual-aid departments, EMS agencies, county personnel, and supporting organizations that responded and assisted throughout the incident.
